When we boarded the bus there was tinsel around the railings and Santa hats with chocolates on the tops of all the seats. We played Christmas tunes while trading our secret Santa gifts and hoped to see snow when we arrive in Switzerland.
We drove by Lake Como and wow it was so beautiful, and as we entered Switzerland the view outside was unbelievable and definitely one of my favourite parts!
Our tour manager and amazing driver, prepared another surprise for us that day, and as we drove up a mountain with extreme hairpin turns, in a cloud of white mist, we appeared to on top of a snowy mountain in Switzerland! We all got out, Santa hat and all and out came bottles and bottle and even more bottles of champagne. Happy Christmas!!
We eventually arrived in Switzerland later that evening and had time to explore the city. To say that Lucerne loves their Christmas lights would be an understatement, but that added to it's enchantment. I walked along the oldest wooden bridge, and along the river. You could look up and see castles on top of the mountains, and the stores, although they were closed showcased the most stylish clothes!
That night we went out for a Christmas meal, which consisted mainly of variations of potatoes, and noodles...it was interesting.
The next morning we woke up and headed into town for a tour of the stores that make Swiss watches and Swiss army knifes, I stuck with the Swiss chocolate...
We didn't stay too long as we had a 700km drive to our next and last destination...
