-wake up at a ridiculous hour in the morning that no one should have to be awake at
-meet my fellow travellers who journeyed in from places around the world
-hop aboard a ferry to cross the English Channel
-drive through four countries
- start the trip of a lifetime
That morning I woke up very early, made my way to the meeting spot, met the other travellers, and boarded the bus(we had the selfie bus, which is one of a kind, and covered in past contiki travellers selfies!), ready to explore Europe!
From the bus we drove to get on the ferry so we could head across the English Channel and get to Amsterdam, but not before we drove through a bit of France and Germany.
As we departed from England the Cliffs of Dover were there to bid us farewell.
After plenty of driving, some games to get to know everyone(have you every done speed dating in a moving vehicle?), and a pit stop, we finally arrived in Amsterdam!
We had a quick dinner, and then hopped back on the bus to head into town. From there, an optional activity was offered, which was a cannel tour to see all of the lights put up for the festive season. So we jumped into the boat and cruised away.
None of the pictures I took during the tour really showed up, but here is the boat we took. I do recommend that you take the cannel cruise if you're ever in Amsterdam in was a beautiful way to see the city.
Next stop was the red light district, I and a few others stayed in the town to explore the night life and take in all of the Christmas decorations. The things I saw down some of the side streets are what make this city so unique.
The next morning we had 4 hours to explore Amsterdam in the day light, everyone split up with their own intentions of experiencing museums, the red light district in daytime, and wandering the streets to get a feel for the lifestyle of the locals (which I happily did).
And then we were off, ready to explore a quint little town in Germany...(Part 3 coming soon)
