One item on the list that I never thought would actually turn into the best experience of my life was, Plan a trip to somewhere I've always dreamed of visiting.
So in September of 2014 I decided what the heck, I've always dreamed of going to Europe so why not go! (Of course I did spend all of August budgeting, researching and carefully planning) I ended up choosing the European Magic (Winter) Tour with the tour site Contiki.
Fast forward to December 17th, 2014, when I boarded my international flight from Pearson to Heathrow, on my very first trip I'd ever taken solo, to countries I'd only ever dreamed of visiting.
I arrived in London, England on December 18, 2014, and after a 1.5hr tube journey and 15mins of wondering around lost I finally arrive at my hotel!
After freshening up, I headed out onto the streets of London on a mission to shop 'til I dropped. Being the organized being that I am, I had planned my two days in London carefully, making sure I could do, see, eat and shop at all the places I wanted to. But as I headed out, on what I thought was the way, to Oxford street, I found myself to be lost.
My Moto for the Trip: "The best way to see a city is to get lost in it!"
Strangely enough I still managed to see all the places I had planned to, just in a more spontaneous way.
Covent Garden |
Regent Street |
Carnaby Street |
Liberty London |
Oxford Circus (Where there was THE best Topshop I've ever been to, and I've been to a lot all over the world, was) |
Oxford Street |
I shopped well into the night, then I realized that I was supposed to be at The Coliseum, to see The Nutcracker ballet, at 7:30 and I had absolutely no idea where I was in relation to my hotel..oops.
I did come across some beautiful houses though! |
Turns out I made it in time.....I was the first one there! |
It was so beautiful! |
The next day I planned to see all of the main sights, although not in a touristy way. I grabbed a hot chocolate and pain aux chocolate from Costa and headed back on the street to explore the beautiful city I dream of living in.
Trafalgar Square
Big Ben
Westminster Abbey
Cheeky Telephone Booth Pic
Photobombed by Big Ben |
Jubilee Walkway
"The Mall"
Buckingham Palace
Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park
This was followed by a stroll through Chelsea and Kensington in search for Harrods.
London was everything I could've hoped for and more, it's one of the greatest places I've ever visited and I plan to visit again and again!
These two days weren't apart of the Contiki trip, I just went early so I could have these two amazing days to explore a city I fell in love with before I even visited. The real trip begins the next day when we depart from London en route to....(Part 2, coming soon)
Here's a link to a blog post I wrote last year about London, this was written before I had been there, and just based on what I've read and picture's and movies I've seen.
