Everything about it is perfect, the layout, the content, but more than anything, it's THE book for anyone looking to do anything in the fashion industry to own, it's an absolute must.
The book is broken down in to 6 categories:
-Designers
-Editors
-Stylists
-Models
-Beauty
and each category has a selection of the industries most esteemed professionals giving invaluable insight into their field; information that would take years of experience to learn by yourself, cleverly written on this book's stylish pages.
Along with the behind the scenes secrets about how a certain photograph was taken, or how a specific outfit was styled; basically every juicy detail anyone interested in fashion would appreciate, and love to know about.
Probably one of my favourite bits in the book has to be the guide that goes with each category. For example the beauty section, it tells you all the necessities that a person in the beauty industry should own, so good!
When my monthly Teen Vogue subscription arrives in the mail for me, I read it from cover to cover, making notes about what valuable information I've just consumed, things that I believe will help me in the future to secure a job in the fashion industry. In this handbook it was no different, at the back book are pages labelled Notes, which I filled up while reading it.
If you don't already own it, get it, love it, read it and re-read it again and again, because the information and tips you find in this handbook, may be the knowledge that sets you apart and gets you your dream job in the fashion industry.
EXCITING NEWS!!
Staying on the topic of Teen Vogue I have been accepted, and will be attending this years Teen Vogue Fashion University. Basically TVFU is a weekend event held in NYC, when Teen Vogue brings in the top industry professionals to talk at seminars held in the Teen Vogue headquarters for eager fashionista, like myself, to attend and learn, it takes place March 12-15.
I have been wanting to go since the first year it was put on, but life happened to get in the way, as is sometimes naturally does, and I was unable to attend. This year I told myself I would apply, just to see what would happen, and as luck would have it, I was accepted.
The application process involves a series of long answer questions (about 100-200 words), and for you to upload some photos of your designs, outfits or fashion drawings.
Tips for applying:
1. Make the most of the word limit, try to get your point across and show you're love for fashion through your answers.
2. For the photos, have Teen Vogue in mind, if you could do a piece for Teen Vogue what would it look like? How would you style it? Use the answer to those questions to help you have fun and be creative with your photos.
3. Read up on tips and FAQ found on the official website, just to make sure you have all the possible knowledge you can get!
Good Luck if you apply next year!
