Spring 2015 Couture: Atelier Versace, Viktor & Rolf, Valentino

DV knows how to do sexy.

Viktor & Rolf make couture casual.

Valentino bring back Shakespearean frocks.

These three shows share one thing in common, they all have 'V's' in their names, other than that their couture collections could not be more different.

Atelier Versace combined curvy cutouts with cherry reds, cobalt blues, winter whites and daring blacks, in an overall theme of pure seduction! Here are some of my favourites:

Viktor & Rolf went for a more innocent theme, the oversized straw hats and baby doll dresses, where paired down with a causal, couture flip flop. The detail surrounding the voluminous, a-line dresses is simply stunning. Here are some of my favourite looks:

At Valentino, Pierpaola Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri, paired pinafores with smock dresses, and cursive scrolled quotes curling around the delicate fabric, though it was a different take to the more simply elegant collections in the past, the last part of the show brought back the whimsical elegance. What I Wore Today: January 29, 2014

#Juno was supposed to tuck in the city that never sleeps (aka NYC), by placing a blanket of snow over the them...but that never happened.

And now everywhere else is saying that a major blizzard is coming...hmm?

It is snowing outside my window right now, but by no means would I classify it as a blizzard. Besides a hot chocolate, warm blanket and comfy furniture, a snowy day is best paired with a bold lip. So today I brought out my favourite lipstick at the moment, 'Love Liberty' from Charlotte Tilbury, to help me get through the winter weather.

Here's my outfit of the day:

Necklace Forever 21
Top Topshop
Harem Pants H&M
Chelsea Boots Topsop

Coat Vera Moda

Great things about today:

  1. I didn't have to drive in a blizzard
  2. I wore harem pants without looking like a complete shlump, or a lost kid from the 80's
  3. I made brownies and they were delicious...SUCCESS!

Spring 2015 Couture: Elie Saab

Elie Saab is a designer who's collections I daydream about; they're effortless beauty, give the ambience of a delicate elegance.

Every dress is a creation of art, and the lucky person who wears it must feel like a complete dream. This season, Saab took a step out of his usual solid coloured creations, and dabbled in the use of bead, sequins and feather, giving an overall whimsical wonderland appeal, perfect for a daydream.

Here are a selection of my favourite designs from the collection:

Spring 2015 Couture: Chanel Roundup

Chanel, nothing is quite as iconic as that perfectly chic five letter word.

It tastes sweet to say, and makes the heart flutter when brought up in conversation.

Well Chanel lovers hold on your hats because Monsieur Lagerfeld has done it again. Karl's Spring 2015 Couture collection is...is...is genius! Think gardening chic.

It starts with variations on the classic Chanel two piece skirt suit, followed by a flourish of floral embellishment, and cooling down with soft pastels, full skirts and more floral motifs. Tulle, sequinned detail and delicate pleats made these garments shine above anything seen thus far in the Spring 2015 Collections.

The looks were paired with black leather boots coming up above the ankle, a modest, mesh veil, and topped with a picture hat or embellished beanie.
He's an absolute genius!

Spring 2015 Couture: Giambattista Valli Round Up

"Who's your favourite designer?"

This question defeats me, the fact that I have to pick just one amazingly, talented designer is too hard. I mean how does one choose between, Chanel and Dior, or Victoria Beckham or Chloé, or Givenchy and Saint Laurent?

But when applying for fashion schools, and programs this question often appears, and my answer is the one designer who's breath taking garments are unlike any, who's use of draping, motifs, textiles, and structure is unlike anyone else, Giambattista Valli.

As you may, or may not know, Spring 2015 Couture shows are currently in full swing, so I thought that I would round up my favourite looks from some of my, "favourite designers", starting with Giambattista Valli!

This season models donned black, mesh, dotted veils tied at the top in a bow, tones of tulle, and the most darling jackets from floor length to cropped capes. The mix of neutral black and white tones, with the contrasting, candy covered almond colours, came in the form of both full skirted gowns and wide legged jumpsuits. I cannot wait to see which celebs will choose to walk the red carpet in one of these beautiful creations this award season!

Favourite Looks from the SAG Awards 2015

I am award show's number one fan. I am that person who will start counting down the days until the next award show, and then plan my entire day around watching it,  I will also sit and watch the 3 hour E! News Red Carpet Coverage beforehand, because you never know what will happen, maybe you'll spot a new couple, someone might have a wardrobe malfunction, or Angelina Jolie might wear the most gorgeous dress with a thigh high slit, and be best dressed of the night!

This may have been growing up I would watch every award show with my mom, staying up extra late on a school night, predicting who would win the next award. But there's nothing wrong with being obsessed with award show's, because I knew almost every A-listers name when I was under the age of 10, and seeing the gorgeous, glammed up actors strutting the red carpet probably contributed to my love of styling and fashion!

When I watch the red carpet there's a few things that go through my head:

  1. I try and see if I can guess, "Who they're wearing.." before they say.
  2. I try and remember if this is a new look for them, or if they're sticking to their usual red carpet style.
  3. I see if they dress suit them, based on the cut, size, colour, etc.
  4. Then I take in everything else, like the accessories, hair, and of course the shoes!
Last night was the SAG (Screen Actors Gild) Awards, and the red carpet was one of the best this season, here are a few of my faves!
Dior Couture
Balenciaga
Honor Mikado

Other's include couple of the night, Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux, Claire Danes, Natalie Dormer; and for males, Eddie Redmayne, and Edward Norton.

My Contiki Travel's Part 7: Switzerland->Paris

Today was an extremely long drive, but it would be the last as Paris was our last stop. It was crazy to think that my time in Europe was nearly up, and I was going to have to say goodbye to the awesome people I'd been travelling with, in the end we kind of felt like a family...(gosh that is so cheesy!)

We arrived in Paris early evening, and were greeted by rain and darkness. That night our amazing bus driver offered to take us on a tour of the city to see it all lit up, and I much say the city is absolutely stunning. I feel that it was extremely helpful to do the bus tour, because the next day when we had free time, I new roughy were different landmarks and streets were in relation to each other.

Did you know that Paris has one of the largest roundabouts in the world, it had 8 lanes, with no lines, and you must yield to incoming traffic! Another must is to see the Eiffel tower both at night and during the day! I first saw it that night off in the distance, and it happened to be during the light show, when he iconic tower was sparkling, captivating the gaze of people all around the city.

The real spectacular moment happen when we all got out to explore, the moment I saw it up close was the first time in my life that my breath had actually been properly taken away! It was so much larger that I had ever imagined, and at the moment I thought "GIRL, YOU'RE IN PARIS!!!!" It was one of my favourite moments of the trip. When you go to see it, go stand in the centre right underneath of it and just look up! After taking tons of pictures and trying not to get completely drenched from the down pour of rain, we all loaded by onto the bus and went to finish the tour.

The next day was insanely windy, and we had tickets to go to the summit of the Eiffel Tower! When we arrived we were told that it was too windy to go the very top, but the second platform was still open. The views were unreal, it's something everyone should see at least once. From there, an optional tour of Fragonard's Perfumery was scheduled, which was also really, really interesting, and again I would definitely recommend doing!

After we had free time before the bus would take us back to the hotel. I walked the Champs Elysees and walked through the Christmas markets that lined it, I took pictures in front of the Louvre because I didn't have enough time to actually go into it, and I went and put a lock on a bridge. The original love lock bridge is now boarded up, because all of the locks have ruined structure, but on just about any bridge you can find locks!

Then a group of us went to a Parisian cafe to warm up, I ended up 4 euros for water, to justify I kept telling myself that it was some kind of special Parisian beauty water...

We then got the bus back to the hotel and got ready to go out to the Moulin Rouge!!!!!!! Seriously, if you ever come to Paris please go see the Moulin Rouge, it may be pricey, but you get every cent of your money back. The show is something that everyone should see at least once!

That ended the last day of the tour! The next morning I woke up at 5:45am to catch the metro to the airport to fly back home, and my travels were done. Overall this trip was the best thing I've ever done, I've come home a new person, more confident, happier, and realizing that there's so much out there to do and see! Thank you for reading about My Contiki Travel's I hope it inspired you to be spontaneous and take a trip you've always dreamed of taking!
