When it comes to fashion there are soo many different terms for clothes, jobs, trends, etc. and with new slang being invented each season it can be hard to keep up.
Here is a short list of some fashion terminology to get you started:
1. Ready-to-Wear (RTW)- The opposite of haute couture. Ready-to-wear is not made to measure, these collections are just purchased off the racks.
2. Haute Couture- Translates to "high sewing" in French. It refers to the creation of custom-made, hand-crafted garments.
3. Vintage- Old-fashioned or secondhand clothing, this can be applied to anything from Victorian-era dresses to a 1980 concert tee.
4. Monochrome- Using different shades and tints of one colour.
5. A-line- Fitted at the top (i.e. a shirt tighter at the shoulders, or a skirt tighter at the waist), and flares out at the bottom.
Hope this mini little dictionary has helped, I will occasionally add on to this so keep an eye out! Have a really great rest of the week!
