What To Wear Where: Coffee Date

It's almost the weekend, and I thought what better way to celebrate than going out for a coffee date. This is a complete look inspired by the coziness and comfortability that sipping a warm drink, sitting in overstuffed lounge chairs, in a softly lit setting entails. So whether you have a girls catch up or flirty date you'll be sure to be the creme de la creme.
Coffee Date..

Whats your favourite place to get coffee? Did you have a great January?

You Wore It Better: Cara Delevingne

Hello there, I don't know about you but I'm still recovering from the Grammy's. They were so amazing and I admit I watched the 4 hour red carpet coverage beforehand, red carpet fashion is my weakness, right next to street style...

Anyways, for todays post I thought I would do a style steal type thing, also known as how to get so and so's look, but I've decided to call mine You Wore It Better because I'm going to show you the pieces needed to recreate the look of someone incredibly stylish- in todays case, Miss Cara Delevingne, or Queen Delevingne or the model with the most incredible eyebrows- and then you can take the pieces, give it your own twist and wear it better. Lets do it!

Best For Your Body Part 3: The Correct Colour For Your Complexion

Happy Grammy weekend, this is the last post in the Best For Your Body mini series. The first part was all about finding the best silhouette, texture and prints for your body shape, you can read it here. The second part was all about the must have item to best accentuate your body shape, which you can find here. Now, here we are with the final part, all about finding the right colour for your complexion, sure theres the classic holding the garment up to your face to see if it washes you out or clashes terribly with your complexion, but this easy guideline will surely take the guessing out of what colours to gravitate towards, so lets get into it.

There are four colour categories:

Winter- winter complexions look best in bright, clear and colder colours, some examples would be navy blue, black, red and emerald green.

Spring- spring complexions look best in pastel, clear colours that are warm, these colours may include lime green, coral, pink and ivory.

Summer- summer complexions are similar to winter, but not as crisp, instead of black go for a soft grey, instead of navy blue try a denim blue and instead of white pick a cream.

Autumn- autumn complexions are essentially the colours that you see as the trees change colour, examples would be brown, orange, mahogany red and forest green.

To figure out which season you are simply depends on the following factors:

1. Your natural hair colour
2. Your eye colour
3. Your skin tone without makeup

If any of the above factors show signs of warmth(ex. yellow or red tones in hair, or soft eyes with yellow flecks) indicates that you are Spring or Autumn and the colours stated above, beside those seasons will compliment your complexion the best.

If you have dark hair with no auburn, or are blonde with no brassy tones, you are either Winter or Summer and the colours mentioned above, beside those seasons will suit you amazingly.

Just one thing to keep in mind is not to always be influenced by trends, by all means try it out, but if the colour doesn't quite work well with your complexion don't force it. I truly hope you learned at least one new thing from this mini series of blog posts! Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Will you be watching the Grammys?

Best For Your Body Part 2: Must Have Item to Accentuate Your Body Shape

Hello, yah for it almost being the weekend! Whether you have any big plans for going out or if you're just going to hang out and stay in, I have some great style tips to help accentuate your body and make you not only look great, but feel great as well.

If you missed part 1 of this mini series I posted earlier, Best For Your Body Part 1: Textures, Prints and Silhouettes feel free to give it a read. In part 2 I am going to show you how certain items can work with your body shape to look its best. Disclaimer: All body shapes are different for a reason, it wouldn't be fun or interesting if everyone was the same, and since not every style looks good on everyone this can be used as a guide to find what works best on you!
3.1 Phillip Lim Pom Pom Tee

H- curved hems; the curved line softens and feminizes a look. An easy way to incorporate this into your look is simply by wearing a long lightweight top with a rounded hem, pair it with a long necklace, tights, a jacket or blazer and booties and you are set!
Leather Bow Skinny Belt, Pink- Kate Spade New York

8- skinny belt; whether the belt is leather, braided, or jewelled, when worn around your waist it will bring attention to the smallest part of your figure, layer it over a dress, skirt or tunic for a great look.
River Island Pale Blue Gem Stone Statement Necklace

A- statement necklace or collars; these accessories with draw the attention up towards the face and the added detail will balance the weight on the lower part of the body. To allow the necklace to stay the focal point keep your top and the rest of your wardrobe simple and monochrome.
Saint Laurent Baby Cat Narrow Scarf

V- a long scarf of necklace; when theses are worn draped from the neck it leads the eye up and down reducing the bust size and making you look taller and slimmer in the upper body. To avoid adding to much weigh to the upper body refrain from using a bulky scarf.
Love Wrap Dress from Asos.com

()- a wrap dress; the diagonal line created by the overlapping fabric will lead the eye from the waist to the chest and neck area, drawing the attention away from the midsection. To bring added excitement, wear a statement necklace. Remember that if you are petite to stick to smaller prints in the wrap dress so they don't overwhelm you.

The final part of this mini series will be uploaded at the end of this week and it will talk about how to find the right colours for your complexion, which can take an item of clothing from looking ordinary, to extraordinary. Make the best out of the rest of your day!

The Best for Your Body Part 1: Textures, Prints and Silhouettes

Hi yah, hope January is treating you well. I thought that it would be a good idea to share my tips and tricks on how to style and dress best for your shape. What is honestly so fabulous about fashion is that even though there are many different body shapes, there is always a great way to accentuate yours, all by using different patterns, accessories and textures! So I have come up with a mini series of posts on how to dress for your body shape, lets get into it!

This first part is going to be about what silhouettes, textures and prints will work best for you, and if you don't know which body shape you have don't you worry, just keep reading and I will have all the information down below. Disclaimer: All body shapes are different for a reason, it wouldn't be fun or interesting if everyone was the same, and since not every style looks good on everyone this can be used as a guide to find what works best on you!

H- aka 'the rectangle' or 'E' it's an athletic build, where the shoulders and waist are about the same size as the hips. An a-line silhouette(ex. found in skirts) would be best for this body shape because the flare of the skirt would minimize the waist.

8- aka 'the hour glass' the bust and hips are about the same size with the waist being 20-25cm smaller. Again using a skirt silhouette as an example, a bodycon or pencil skirt would best accentuate your curves.

A- aka 'pear shape' there is extra weight in the lower part of the body. The silhouette that goes great with this body shape would be an a-line.

V- aka 'cone shape' the shoulders are wider than the hips by 4cm or more. A tubular silhouette leads the eye up and down giving the illusion of a taller, slimmer body.

()- aka 'apple shape' normally found in average to shorter heights, the bust or chest area is large and the legs are thin. Again the a-line silhouette will balance proportions in this body shape.

Here are the basics on wearing textures, prints and colour:

Textures- thick textures will add weight so if you have a larger chest area focus lighter fabrics in this area, because thin textures minimize weight.
Prints- If you are a petit person wear smaller prints, larger prints with overtake your body and you want to wear your clothes, not have your clothes wear you.
Colours- Bright colours draw attention to an area, use this technique to accentuate a certain area, like colour blocking, have the black go up the sides of your body and the colour in the centre to create the illusion of a smaller waist.

Hope this helped, part 2 will be uploaded later this week and it will be about the must have item to best accentuate your body shape. Enjoy whats left of the January sales!

Happy Birthday to the ultra-glamorous, Kate Moss. Oh, how I love Kate, she's so gorgeous (her cheek bones are incredible), and she has definitely nailed the model-off-duty look from the 25 years she's been in the industry. In honour of Kate's 40th Birthday I'm going to share some of my favourite pictures of the legend herself, enjoy!

Don't worry if this wasn't enough Kate Moss for you because her collaboration with Topshop will be out in April and she has an in-depth documentary titled Looking For Kate. What is your favourite picture of Kate? Are you super excited for her collab with Topshop?

What Will They Wear? (Golden Globes Edition)

The award season has officially begun for 2014, and I could not be any more excited! Watching award shows and the red carpet events have played a major role in my love for fashion. Ever since I was little my mom and I would watch, and still do watch, every award show together. This was not only great bonding time, but it was the way I learned the who's who in the designing world and in Hollywood.

One day I dream of getting to be a stylist to the stars, dressing them  in gorgeous gowns gearing them up for the all important question, that is, 'Who are you wearing?'

Sadly, as the Golden Globes are set to air tomorrow, that dream will not be coming true, this year at least, but I still thought I could share what I would have chose to style some of the talented women attendees in.

Lupita Nyong'o

Julia Roberts

John Rocha Spring 2014 RTW Look 7

14 Items to Have in Your Wardrobe for 2014

1. Flat Strap Sandal

Yes, 2014 could very well be the year of the practical shoe, but just because it's practical does not mean it's boring, it's all in how you style them (whether thats with socks, like at Band Of Outsiders Spring 2013 RTW show, is your call). [x]

2. Pastels

Pastels are no longer reserved only for Spring, soft hues of rose, mint, violet and yellow floated down the Burberry Prorsum Spring 2014 RTW runway, now try it with your own twist, whether it's a top and skirt co-ord or cozy angora jumper. [x]

3. Embellishments

Don't let the bling only be worn on your hands or around your neck this year, give your outfit some sparkle with a bejewelled tee or a dress with floral motifs. [x]

4. Purple

Whether it's a purple handbag or a divine chiffon blouse, the colour of royalty is going to be the reigning favourite in your wardrobe. [x]

5. Sheer Paneling

You may have seen this trend incorporated in Alexander Wang's Parental Advisory jumper, this is a great way to add dimension to your outfit and parental advisory may be needed depending on how daring you choose to go with the placements of the sheer panels. [x]

6. Jacket with Fur Lapel

Keep warm while looking effortlessly cool, with a jacket featuring large lapels layered with fur, and yes faux fur is the chicest option. There are many styles of jackets incorporating this trend so make sure to look around for the style that best suits you. You may find inspiration from Mulberry's Pre-Fall 2014 collection. [x]

7. Chunky Cable Knit Sweater

These sweaters are a fantastic way to expand the outfit options in your closest, whether you layer it with a sundress for spring or a leather jacket for fall, the contrast of smooth and chunky textures will allow this garment to really pop. [x]

8. Western Inspiration

Chanel's Pre-Fall 2014 ode to the western heritage was so amazing that it's a must to add a denim dress or a pair of cowboy boots to your closet. [x]

9. Worldly Prints

Not everyone will be able to jet off to an exotic place this year, but don't worry, you can bring the exotic destination to you. Just add a safari scarf or an African printed skirt to your closet, and bonus this trend works great for festivals. [x]

10. Slogan Jumper

Printed slogans are the perfect way to express yourself through your style without having to say anything. Are you feeling witty, flirtatious or want to express your love for pizza and super models theres a sweater to say it all. [x]

11. Belted Waist

The accentuated waist is easily accomplished by selecting a great belt and layering it over blazers, jumpsuits or even your winter coat to give it some shape. [x]

12. Bow Neck Blouse

This will be a staple in your wardrobe all year, giving an extra air of elegance to your casual or dressed up ensemble. [x]

13. Strong Shoulders

The strong shoulder is a fantastic way to balance out your proportions if you have an pear body shape(heavier in the midsection). It's also gives the illusion of exquisite posture and adds edge to your outfit, this trend can be worn in the form of a blazer, coat or top. [x]

14. Diagonal Lines

It could be an asymmetrically cut hem, a slanted zipper or a ruffle running diagonally on a skirt. This is a simple way of including some depth to an article of clothing. [x]

I hope that your 2014 is the best year yet for you and you achieve everything you want to. Are planning on adding any of these items to your wardrobe? Or do you have any other must haves for this year?
