Making Pastels Work

 Like Miranda Priestly famously said in the movie Devil Wears Prada, "Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking." I feel that pastels, like florals, are synonymous to spring. Maybe it's because the Easter holiday is represented by this colour palette, just like reds and greens are for Christmas. Whatever the reason is pastels are most likely going to make an appearance in your wardrobe this spring, so here are some tips on how to wear them in the most stylish ways.

•  Pastels always look great when paired with grey.

• When thinking of how to pair pastels with other colours think of what other colours are in that colours spectrum, ex.) pastel pink->pink->red->maroon, then think of the complementary colours for that hue, ex.) navy. 

Now you know the tricks and tips to making pastels a bit more interesting, and perhaps even "groundbreaking".

May 2014 Style Goal

It's May!!!!!!! And with a new month comes a new style goal, a goal to try and achieve during the month of may. This month is all about the hat. I actually had never owned a proper fashion hat before, and by a fashion hat I mean a hat that is not from a sports league I played for as a child, or a knitted winter hat with the long braided ties with pom-poms on the bottom...

I never believed that I was able to pull off a hat, and like many people, that prevented me from entering that area of the fashion world..until I went into Zara and tried on the most beautiful, stylish fedora with a black leather brim and navy wool cap and a gold zipper detailing. I tried it on as a joke, trying to get a laugh, but when I looked in the mirror it was like the stars had aligned and this hat was made for me. From there I have widened my collection to a couple beanies, which are great from bad hair days, and some fashionable snapbacks with floral patterns or a leather fabric. 


It's seriously amazing how a hat can elevate your entire look!! The trick is just finding the style that is best suited for you! Here are some styles of hairs that you might fancy giving a go, and you'll never know if it looks good if you don't try it on. So lets make May the month that we break away from our hat phobias and rock the accessory that screams model-off-duty.

What To Wear Where: A Rainy Day

I personally love rainy days, it's an excuse to stay inside and have a chilled out day. What I love even more is after a spring shower, the scent that fills the humid air, it's sweet and fresh and makes me oh so happy.

But what about when you need to be somewhere and its pouring down rain...well that's not so great, not to worry though, I've got you covered with a chic look that will keep you dry yet look incredibly stylish, enjoy!

What I Wore This Week: Cropped Pants

As the weather gets warmer, it seems that our hem lines become shorter. For me, this week was all about the cropped trouser. This style of pant can be tricky to pull off, some cropped trousers look best worn with a heel, whereas some look just as chic worn with flats.

Kate Moss x Topshop Collection

As you may, or may not know, I am in love with all things Kate Moss, her style, her effortless beauty, her successful career and the impact that she has made in the fashion industry. Now Kate Moss have teamed up with Topshop to design a collection of truly fashionably, chic items that will all have a bit of Kate in them.

This is a 61- piece collection that will be available to the public, online and in most Topshop store, on April 30, 2014. The collection will include 4 distinct themes including, Tailoring Noir, Balearic Dressing, Cocktail Hour and Pyjama Dressing.

The Topshop website has further information on each of the themes, as well as, behind the scenes photos and videos of the making of this collection. Plus you can preview the collection before it goes on sale. In addition to all of that good stuff, Topshop have teamed up with the digital storytelling platform Nowness, to capture some of Kate's personal friends and fans reaction to this collaboration.

Grungy vs. Girly

To define, what my style is, seems impossible. One day I'll be sophisticated chic, then the next, minimalist monochromatic, or classic and comfortable- so to have to pin point my sense of style, to one phrase, is unrealistic. 

I feel that style should define who you are, what you feel and what message you're trying to convey, and to have to do that with one continuous style would be hard. So I say it's ok to change it up, keep your fashion followers on edge. If you're feeling like wearing a bold, canary, yellow co-ord one day, and a mix of plaid and leather the next, DO IT!! ROCK IT!!! OWN IT!!! But most importantly, instagram it, girl. Inspire the world with your style.

Fashion Terms Part 2

Todays post is all about the pant. There are various styles and terms for the trouser, so here are a few definitions to add to your fashion dictionary..if you have one...if you don't that's cool you can just enjoy!!

1. Chino- trousers made of a course twill cotton.

2. Culotte- a women's full trouser cut to resemble a skirt.

3. Gaucho- calf-length pant with flared leg.

4. Palazzo- a women's loose, wide-legged pant.

5. Peg Leg- trousers that are wide at the hips and taper towards the ankles.

April 2014 Style Goal

I feel that with April comes the spring weather, spring flowers, the fresh scented air, rain, and when I really start to bring out my spring wardrobe.

This months style goal is all about the co-ords, which are probably the easiest outfit to put together...ever. That's because it does all the work for you, a co-ord usually consist of a matching top and bottom that can come in the from of a top and skirt, a top and shorts, a blazer and bottoms, etc. 

You can find them just about anywhere and since they're in style there's even more of a selection to choose from. When deciding what co-ord to purchase you could go for a printed one that's really on trend, or you could pick one that is in a classic colour or shape and wear it for seasons to come, it's all up to you.
